I started playing guitar In
1967 at age 7.My father gave me his fathers
guitar, an old "Stella", that I banged around on that until around
1969-70 when I also started to play the violin. I had several years of
private lessons and played at various solo festivals. I also played
French Horn in high school
My first Pro gig was in 1973
in a band called "Odyssey". We played alot
of school, and church dance's. My next band, "Midnight Sun", was
started in high school and lasted untill 1980. Our "claim to fame" was
that we won a Battle of the Bands contest in 1979 that was hosted by
Wolfman Jack. Part of our prize was some studio time in a then state of
the art 8-Track studio. From those tapes we were able to get some local
airplay on KBBK 92FM. A tune I wrote called "Stormout" got heavy
rotation during the late summer of 1979, and was #2 in requests to "My
Sharonna"
