On
July 23rd, 2005, the boys received their long awaited new Boy Scouts of
Nigeria uniforms. We weren't even sure exactly what they
looked
like until they arrived. Nathaniel, from the Boy Scouts of
Nigeria headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria arrived the day before and he
had the uniforms with him. We think they are quite impressive
looking
and since we are the first Boy Scouts in the Port Harcourt area for
quite a while, we think they will make an impression. The
Scouts
are being taught the Scout Oath and Law by Nathaniel (I had taught them
the BSA version because up until this time I had not known the Nigerian
version). The scouts underwent intensive training and they
had to
write it all down because there are no Nigerian Boy Scout books
yet. I hope to remedy this in my spare time in the years
ahead. Meanwhile we are using the donated Boy Scout's of
America
and Cub Scout books because of all the useful information in
them. But still we stick to the Nigerian ways of doing things
to
uphold their traditions and we hope we can create some of our own here
at the Areta Compound where we stay.

In
October 2006 Aero, the constant mascot of the Scout Troop won the
doggie lottery. My wife, Pati, encouraged me to bring Aero
home to Idaho. So after much investigating, more shots than I
thought anyone or anydog should go thru, in December, Aero, now known
as Arrow (fits more with the Idaho theme), became an American. We
arrived on the 29th of December, and after getting a proper red ribbon
on his neck, was shown his new boy, Wyatt, my 7 year old son. Oh
ya, he also got two new dog friends, Buddy, and Sammy. It was a
long flight, a long process, but he is worth it, and.... he never has
to have fleas and live under a conex again.

Aero's last day at Areta
Estates. The next day he flies on a plane the first time, gets a
name change to ARROW, and moves to the United States of America.
He won the doggie lottery, no more fleas, and he sleeps on a pillow now.

Arrow arrives in Idaho, gets a red bow and
meets Wyatt, his new boy. I promised Arrow he never has to
get into a dog carrier again!
He didn't know about the cold, but he is getting used to it, and he has
actually been seen outside laying on the lawn, chewing a bone with
below freezing temperatures.

Arrow and the family, starting
from left is Buddy, Honey cat with Bryan, Wyatt with Arrow, behind him
is Eian, then Marni being held by Destiny, and finally Brenden holding
Sammy.... who taught Arrow how to bark.
